What do you expect from your Realtor?
Buying or selling a home is usually the biggest financial transaction in a person's life. As I see it, my job is first to listen to my clients and to determine what their goals and wishes are, and then to work diligently to help them achieve those goals. Real estate is complicated, and most people don't buy and sell their home so often that they understand or remember the process. Legal aspects change quite frequently too. My goal is to make sure that my clients have the information they need to make informed decisions. The more my clients know about what to expect and how to handle it, the more comfortable they will be.
Most of my business comes from past clients who come back to me to make their next sale or purchase and from referrals from clients and other Realtors - a great vote of confidence in the way I do business!
People occasionally ask me what I do for a living, and I used to reply, "I'm a Realtor" and thought they would know what that means. After a while in the real estate business, I realized that most people had very little idea of what a Realtor's responsibilities involve. One day - I had probably been reading Steven Covey - I thought for a while about what I actually do on a day to day basis. What I came up with was this: I educate, I advise, I negotiate, and I solve problems. By doing this, I help people to buy and sell homes.
I've been a Realtor since the last century (just); I have the designations and the awards. I first came to New Hampshire from England in 1979 and know my way around the dirt roads as well as the highways. I live in, and love, the Monadnock region but I also know the Metrowest Massachusetts area and the border towns, having lived and worked in several of them. As I also have a Massachusetts real estate license, I am able to help people in either state.
